Event summary

DUAL Round 3 is a hybrid pairs race that combines track running with functional workout stations, created to test endurance, strength, coordination, strategy and teamwork. The event will take place on October 11, 2026, at the Athletics Track of the University of Aveiro.

The race is made up of 8 rounds, always following the same sequence: run + functional station. In each round, both members of the pair run together and then enter the workout area to complete the corresponding station. During the functional stations, only one athlete may perform the exercise at a time, while the other remains at rest.

The total workload of each station is completed through the combined effort of both athletes, allowing each pair to define its own strategy and split the repetitions or distance as they prefer. The clock starts at the beginning of the first run and only stops when the pair completes the final station, with transitions included in the total race time.

The event includes two participation levels: Regular and Advanced. In the Regular level, each round includes a 400 m run; in the Advanced level, each round includes an 800 m run. Both formats include functional exercises such as box jumps, single arm snatches, walking lunges, push-ups, farmer’s carry, bear crawl/crab walk, burpee broad jumps and partner wallballs.
