From the Tour de France to Portuguese Roads: 8 Cycling Events to Ride in 2026
For three weeks, the Tour de France once again puts cycling at the centre of attention. Demanding climbs, breakaways, teamwork, sprint finishes and the battle for the yellow jersey make it one of the most watched sporting events in the world.
Watching the best cyclists in the world can be exactly the motivation you need to set your next challenge. And you do not need to travel to France to experience the atmosphere of a cycling event.
From granfondos and urban circuits to community races and mountain bike challenges, Portugal’s cycling calendar offers options for different levels and riding styles. Here are eight events you can still take part in during 2026.
Granfondo Paredes

From Watching the Tour to Riding Your Own Challenge
The Tour de France may be raced by the best cyclists in the world, but many of the emotions that make it special can also be found in amateur events: the nerves before the start, the support between riders, the effort of a long climb and the satisfaction of crossing the finish line.
It does not matter whether your goal is to complete your first community ride, try an urban circuit, take part in a granfondo or tackle a mountain bike marathon. The important thing is to choose a challenge that suits your level and start preparing for it.
