Lisbon Is Done. What Should You Race Next?

Last weekend put Lisbon into full race mode.

On Saturday, 10 October, the EDP Lisbon Marathon took place. On Sunday, it was time for the Hyundai Half Marathon and the EDP 8K, with thousands of runners crossing the city and, in the case of the half marathon, the Vasco da Gama Bridge.

But Portugal’s road racing calendar is far from over.

If you finished Lisbon already thinking about your next race bib — or if you simply want to make the most of the final two months of the year and run one more race — there are still plenty of very different options: half marathons, fast 10Ks, historic races and a whole sequence of São Silvestre events for those who like to close out December by running.

Here are 8 road races to keep an eye on before the end of 2026.

1. Cascais Oeiras Lisboa — 8 November

📍 Cascais → Lisbon
🏃 21 km | 10 km | Relay

Less than a month after the Lisbon Half Marathon, there is another opportunity to race 21 km in the region — but with a completely different setting.

The Cascais Oeiras Lisboa starts near Casino Estoril and follows the coastal road towards Lisbon, finishing at Praça do Império. Alongside the half marathon, there is also a 10K and a relay, making the event interesting for runners who do not want to jump straight back into another 21 km.

For those who enjoy road races by the sea, it is probably one of the most interesting dates in November.

2. 50th Nazaré International Half Marathon — 15 November

📍 Nazaré
🏃 21.1 km | 10 km | 8 km Walk

Not every race reaches its 50th edition.

The Nazaré International Half Marathon returns on 15 November with an out-and-back course described by the organisers as practically flat. Alongside the 21.1 km race, the programme also includes the traditional 10 km Volta à Nazaré.

It is an especially interesting option for runners who prefer a race with history, a traditional running atmosphere and the possibility to choose between a half marathon and a 10K.

3. Évora Half Marathon — 22 November

📍 Évora
🏃 21.1 km | 10 km

Évora offers a combination that is difficult to ignore: road racing with a finish right in the historic city centre.

The half marathon and 10K start near the Água de Prata Aqueduct and finish at Praça do Giraldo. Both distances are competitive and feature electronic timing. RaceFinder

It is also a good option for groups where not everyone wants to race the same distance: some can choose the 21 km while others take on the 10K, while still sharing the same race-day experience.

4. Discoveries Half Marathon — 29 November

📍 Lisbon
🏃 21 km | 10 km

If you want to race in Lisbon again before the end of the year, you do not need to wait for a São Silvestre.

The Generali Tranquilidade Discoveries Half Marathon takes place on 29 November, with both a half marathon and a 10K. The races start at Praça do Império in Belém and feature chip timing. RaceFinder

For runners who took part in the Lisbon Half Marathon in October, it can also be an interesting way to revisit some of the same kilometres of the city in a completely different race setting.

5. São Silvestre Cidade de Ermesinde — 1 December

📍 Ermesinde
🏃 10 km

December starts the way it should: with a São Silvestre.

The São Silvestre Cidade de Ermesinde brings a competitive 10K to the city streets on 1 December, with a 6:00 pm start. The race features electronic timing and starts and finishes in front of the Ermesinde Parish Council. RaceFinder

For runners who spent the autumn focused on 21 or 42 km, December may be the perfect time to swap long-distance racing for a 10K bib.

6. São Silvestre da Batalha — 12 December

📍 Batalha
🏃 10 km

One week later, the São Silvestre season continues in Batalha.

The 13th edition of the race takes place on 12 December, with an approximately 10 km race and an additional programme for younger athletes. RaceFinder

This is exactly what makes December so interesting for road runners: instead of one major end-of-season goal, there are several opportunities to race, meet up with friends and finish the year with a bib pinned to your chest.

7. São Silvestre Cidade do Porto — 20 December

📍 Porto
🏃 10 km

In Porto, one date worth saving is 20 December.

The 32nd Lidl São Silvestre Cidade do Porto starts at 6:00 pm from Avenida dos Aliados and returns to the same point after passing through some of the city’s best-known streets. RaceFinder

A night race, Porto city centre and a Christmas atmosphere: here, the race-day experience is almost as important as the stopwatch.

8. São Silvestre de Lisboa — 26 December

📍 Lisbon
🏃 10 km

Christmas on the 25th. Ten kilometres on the 26th.

The Lidl São Silvestre de Lisboa returns to Avenida da Liberdade with an urban 10K course passing through areas such as Restauradores, Rossio, Cais do Sodré and Praça do Comércio. RaceFinder

It is one of the races that best represents the spirit of end-of-year running: competitive enough for those who want to race fast, but with enough scale and atmosphere to attract runners who are simply looking for one final big running experience in 2026.

Your final race bib of the year is still waiting to be chosen

The Lisbon Marathon and Half Marathon may have been among the biggest moments on the national running calendar, but they do not have to mark the end of the season.

November still brings several opportunities to race 10 km or 21 km, while December practically turns into São Silvestre month.

So the question is not whether there are still races left.

It is: which one will be your next?

Choosing Your First Trail Race: A Guide for Road Runners

Being comfortable racing 10K on the road does not necessarily mean a 10K trail race will present the same challenge. Once you leave the tarmac, distance still matters — but it no longer tells the full story. Elevation gain, terrain, descents, cut-off times and mandatory equipment can make two races of exactly the same distance […]
