RAIA TRAIL
Event summary
The Trail da Raia is an international trail running event taking place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Aldeia do Bispo – Sabugal, Guarda, Portugal. It features multiple competitive distances: Trail Ultra (45 km), Trail Longo (31 km), Trail Curto (16 km), and Trail Mini (11 km), as well as initiation routes including a walk and a kids’ trail.
The event is open to participants of various ages starting from 6 years old for the kids’ trail up to adults for the ultra trail, with no mention of license requirements. The race courses traverse rugged terrain along rural paths and historic smuggler trails between Portugal and Spain, offering a unique cultural and natural experience in the Serra da Malcata protected area.

Surface types: Rugged natural terrain with obstacles typical of the Serra da Gata, Malvana, and Mesas mountains near the Serra da Malcata protected area
Course format: Point-to-point or looped trails along rural and smuggler paths

• Trail Ultra: 45 km, 1270 m elevation gain
• Trail Longo: 31 km, 840 m elevation gain
• Trail Curto: 16 km, 360 m elevation gain
• Trail Mini: 11 km, 230 m elevation gain
Timing method: Electronic chip timing included in bib
Toilets and aid station placement: Aid stations with liquids and solids approximately every 4 km; no plastic bottles or cups distributed, athletes must carry their own containers
Prizes: Trophies for top 3 overall and first in each male and female age category (M/F Sub23, Sen, 40, 50, 60, 70+)
