TAUT – Terras do Ancião Ultra Trail 2027 is an endurance mountain trail running event taking place from February 14 to 20, 2027, in Ansião, Portugal. The event features multiple race distances including a special 500 km edition called The Ancient Quest, as well as 150 miles, 100 miles, 110 km, 62 km, 35 km, 20 km, and 13 km races.

The event is open to athletes aged 18 and over, with a minimum age of 16 for the Mini Trail (13 km). TAUT serves as the official qualifying race in Portugal for the Endurance Mountain Trail World Championship and offers points for TORX eXperience, UTMB Index, ITRA, ATRP, ADAL, and the Municipal Circuit of Ansião. The courses traverse diverse and challenging terrain with significant elevation gains, including technical sections and scenic landscapes across 22 municipalities and 70 parishes.

The Ancient Quest 500K is a unique butterfly loop format race with three distinct circuits, allowing athletes to return to the central logistics hub in Ansião multiple times. The event includes solo and relay categories, with extensive support including aid stations, medical assistance, rest areas, and logistical services to enhance athlete safety and experience.

Terra de Gigantes is an endurance ultra trail race taking place from January 14 to 17, 2027, in Portugal. The race covers a challenging distance of 303.8 km with 10,815 meters of positive elevation gain, starting at Torre in Serra da Estrela and finishing at Nazaré.

This non-stop race requires GPS navigation and semi-self-sufficiency, with a time limit of 74 hours. Participation is open to athletes aged 20 and above with prior experience in long-distance races of 100 km or more and GPS navigation skills. The course traverses diverse landscapes including mountain trails, historical villages, and coastal areas, offering a unique and demanding adventure.

The event features support bases along the route for rest and resupply, strict rules on external assistance, and a strong emphasis on individual endurance and responsibility. It culminates in a celebration ceremony in Nazaré, honoring all finishers and top performers.

The Montalegre Urban Fit is an urban obstacle race taking place on March 6, 2027, in Montalegre, Portugal. The race features a 9 km course with 30 obstacles of varying difficulty, set in cold conditions typical of the Barroso region at this time of year.

Participants can choose from several competition categories including Elite Liga, Elite Internacional, Liga Competitive, and Guerreiro (fun category), with individual and team options available. The event is open to participants aged 14 and above, with some categories requiring registration with the OCR Portugal league.

This race combines physical challenge with a community spirit, as it supports a local Montalegre institution. The event atmosphere is competitive yet inclusive, with multiple start waves and a finisher prize for all participants.

The 3º Trail Winter Challenge S.A. – Vila Galé is a trail running event scheduled for December 13, 2026, in Ericeira, starting and finishing at the Vila Galé Hotel. It features three distances: a long trail of approximately 20 km, a short trail of around 14 km, and a leisure walk of about 12 km. The event is open to all participants aged 18 and older, with competitive classifications for the trail distances and no classification for the walk.

This race is part of the Circuito Challenge S.A. 2026, offering a unique opportunity for participants to compete in a series of three trail challenges throughout the year. The course runs mostly through natural trails with stunning views of the coastline, combining interior paths with scenic sea vistas, offering a beautiful and challenging environment.

The atmosphere is community-oriented and environmentally conscious, promoting trail running with zero environmental impact and initiatives like plogging during the walk. The event also includes prizes for top finishers, the largest team, and oldest participants, along with a unique finisher medal in puzzle format tying the three races in the circuit together. The event caters to competitive runners and leisure walkers alike, encouraging participation from a broad range of ages and skill levels.
