Think your 2026 race calendar is already full?

Think again.

From one of Portugal’s biggest marathons to hybrid competitions, Atlantic trails, night races and festive 10Ks, there are still plenty of reasons to get another start line on the calendar before the year ends.

We searched for some of the most interesting races near Lisbon and Porto between October and December 2026, with one important rule: registration must still be available.

Where possible, we have prioritised events that you can book directly through RaceFinder.

Registration availability checked on 23 September 2026. Places can sell out, so always check the event page before making plans.

Races Near Lisbon

Living in or visiting Lisbon gives you access to far more than city-centre road races.

Within Lisbon and the surrounding region, you can run a coastal marathon, race a hybrid event with a partner, take on Atlantic trails or finish the year with one of the city’s oldest São Silvestre races.

Crossers – The Hybrid Race — 18 October

📍 Loures
📅 18 October 2026
🏃 8 km running + 8 functional fitness stations

Running is only part of the challenge here.

Crossers – The Hybrid Race combines approximately 8 km of running with eight functional fitness stations, bringing the hybrid-racing format to Parque Papa Francisco in Loures.

The race is completed exclusively in pairs, with male, female and mixed categories available.

For runners who also spend plenty of time in the gym — or anyone curious about the growing hybrid racing scene — this offers a very different kind of race day from a conventional 10K.

Registration is currently available through RaceFinder.

Atlantic Cliff Adventure — 15 November

The Atlantic Cliff Adventure takes runners onto the trails around Charneca, in the municipality of Cascais.

Participants can choose between a 20 km trail and a shorter 10 km route, with a 10 km non-competitive walk also available.

Its location close to the Atlantic makes this an appealing option for anyone looking to swap Lisbon’s asphalt for a more natural race without travelling far from the city.

ATHX Finals — 27–29 November

📅 27–29 November 2026

If a normal running race sounds a little too predictable, the ATHX Finals offer something completely different.

Held at the Lisbon Exhibition and Congress Centre, ATHX is a continuous fitness competition lasting around 2.5 hours and testing athletes across six different zones.

Strength, endurance and conditioning all come into play, with both individual and pairs categories available.

It is one of the most distinctive events on Lisbon’s end-of-year calendar and a particularly interesting choice for athletes moving between running, CrossFit-style training and hybrid racing.

Registration is currently available.

Races Near Porto

The Porto region offers just as much variety.

Trail do Aqueduto — 11 October

📍 Paredes
📅 11 October 2026

For trail runners, the Trail do Aqueduto offers a much more serious challenge than a casual Sunday run.

Starting and finishing at Campo de Golfe do Aqueduto in Paredes, the event offers three competitive trail distances: 13 km, 23 km and 33 km.

The event is ATRP certified, forms part of national and regional trail circuits and contributes towards the UTMB Index.

That makes it particularly interesting for runners who want their autumn race to count towards bigger trail-running goals.

You can enter individually or as a pair, while firefighters also have their own Fire Challenge category involving protective equipment.

The marathon follows Porto’s river and Atlantic setting, while the different distances make it possible to experience the same major race weekend without necessarily running 42 kilometres.

The official registration page currently lists registration for all three distances, and RaceFinder also offers direct booking.

Valongo Night Trail — 12 December

There is a 21 km long trail, a 13 km shorter option and a 9 km night walk.

The event is limited to 750 participants, adding another reason not to leave registration too late.

If you want one genuinely different race experience before winter is over, this is one to consider. Registration remains available through RaceFinder.

LIDL São Silvestre Cidade do Porto — 20 December

📍 Porto
📅 20 December 2026
🏃 10K | 5K walk

Some races are about chasing times. Others are about the atmosphere.

The São Silvestre Cidade do Porto has both.

Taking place at 18:00 on 20 December, the event starts on Avenida dos Aliados and brings runners into central Porto for one of the city’s major end-of-year running celebrations.

The programme includes the competitive 10K and a 5 km walk, with the Christmas lights and evening start adding to the atmosphere.

Unlike several other major end-of-year races that have already filled up, registration for the Porto São Silvestre is currently open through the organiser’s registration platform.

One More Race Before 2027?

The final months of 2026 still offer plenty of opportunities to try something new.

Around Lisbon, you can choose between a major marathon, half marathon, coastal trail, hybrid racing and a historic São Silvestre.

Around Porto, the calendar ranges from road half marathons and the Porto Marathon to functional fitness challenges, mountain trails and a huge Christmas 10K.

The hardest part might simply be choosing one.

And remember: race availability can change quickly. If there is an event you want to do, checking the registration status sooner rather than later is a good idea.
