MAY

🍷 Douro Vinhateiro Half Marathon — Peso da Régua | 24 May

One of the most beautiful race courses in Portugal. Terraced vineyards, the Douro river as a backdrop, and a final stretch that passes through historic wine estates. There’s also a 5km option, making it accessible to all levels.

It’s a race that combines performance with experience — exactly the kind of event that defines the 2026 calendar.

🏃 FPF Race — Jamor, Lisbon | 17 May

Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation at the Jamor complex, the FPF Race has grown year after year. 10km in a unique setting, with one of the highest participation rates on the Lisbon spring calendar.

JUNE

⛪ Corrida de Santo António — Lisbon, Belém | 7 June

One of Lisbon’s most charismatic races, held during the city’s popular festivals. 10km starting and finishing in Belém, in an atmosphere that blends sport, music, and popular culture. It has long been one of the capital’s most sought-after races.

🌊 Douro Run Half Marathon — Gondomar | 7 June

Flat, fast course along the Douro river. Distances of 5km, 10km, and 21km. One of the best-organised half marathons in the North and a favourite for anyone chasing a personal best at the start of summer.

🌸 “The Most Beautiful Race in Portugal” — Figueira da Foz | 14 June

The name isn’t marketing. The course starts at Praia de Quiaios, climbs through the Serra da Boa Viagem, and finishes at the Torre do Relógio, with the Atlantic as a constant backdrop. 10km that stay in the memory.

🏖️ Beach Half Marathon Analice Silva — Costa da Caparica | 14 June

Running on the sand at Caparica is a completely different experience from any other race. Physically demanding, visually unforgettable. Distances of 10km and 21km with the ocean to your left throughout the entire course.

🌿 Lizandro Eco Half Marathon — Mafra | 21 June

21km and 12km on a course that alternates between road and natural paths along the Lizandro river. A race that prioritises sustainability and connection to nature, in a region that deserves to be better known among runners.

OCTOBER

🏙️ EDP Lisbon Marathon — Lisbon | 10 October ⭐ HIGHLIGHT

Portugal’s biggest race — and now with even greater status. The EDP Lisbon Marathon is one of the eight founding races of the new European Marathon Classics circuit, alongside Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Rome, Vienna, and Warsaw.

The course speaks for itself: start in Carcavelos, 42km of Atlantic coastline and Tagus riverfront, finish at Praça do Comércio. 100% ocean- and riverside. On the same weekend, on October 11, the Hyundai Half Marathon takes place with its start on the Vasco da Gama Bridge — one of the most unique experiences in the national calendar.

For those who haven’t registered yet: the first 2,000 entries are priced at €70, rising progressively to €130 from the 5,001st entry onwards.

NOVEMBER

🌉 Porto Marathon — Porto | 8 November

Flat, fast course starting near Sea Life on Via Castelo do Queijo, finishing at the Queimódromo in Parque da Cidade — crossing the most beautiful parts of Porto, Matosinhos, and Vila Nova de Gaia.

A marathon that combines performance with culture: the Ribeira, the D. Luís Bridge, the port wine cellars. And after the finish line, a francesinha is always well deserved.

How to plan your season right now

If you don’t yet have races on the calendar, now is the right time to decide. Registrations for the most popular events sell out months in advance — especially the Lisbon Marathon and the Porto Marathon.

A simple structure for the second half of the year:

May/June — A 10km or half marathon to keep the rhythm and test your form.

September/October — Your main goal: a marathon or half marathon with a personal best in mind.

November — Finish the season strong with the Porto Marathon, one of the most festive races in the country.
