May is one of the busiest months in the Portuguese endurance calendar. From trail races and road events to hybrid fitness competitions and solidarity runs, there are great options for every level and goal.

If you are still planning your spring racing schedule, here are some events you can still add to your calendar.

HYROX Lisbon (May 1–3)

HYROX Lisbon arrives in Portugal with three days of competition combining running and functional workouts in a unique indoor race format that continues to grow across Europe.

It is a great choice if you want to try something different from traditional running races or test your fitness in a structured competition environment.

IV Trail Rota Megalítica

A trail race that combines history, nature and varied terrain, with distances suitable for different experience levels.

ZUT – Zebra Ultra Trail

Designed for trail runners looking for a more demanding challenge, this event is ideal if you are preparing for longer distances this season.

Estrela Grande Trail

Taking place in the Serra da Estrela region, this race offers altitude, technical trails and some of the most impressive mountain landscapes in Portugal.

Xistarca 40th Anniversary Run

A special anniversary event connected to one of Lisbon’s most active running communities.

24 Hours Running Challenge – Mem Martins (Sintra)

A growing format in Portugal: run solo or as part of a team during a 24-hour endurance challenge with a unique atmosphere.

Perfect if you are looking for something different this season.

Belém Run

One of the most iconic race locations in Lisbon, combining performance and scenery along the Tagus riverfront.

Wings for Life World Run (May 10)

A truly global race with a unique format where participants run until they are caught by the moving finish line vehicle. Entry fees support spinal cord injury research worldwide.

A very special experience with a strong purpose behind it.

Trail Bem Viver 2026

A great option if you are looking for a welcoming trail event with strong community spirit and nature-focused routes.

XI Trail Erdal Urgezes Trail

A trail race with a strong solidarity component and a friendly atmosphere.

2nd ISCPSI Solidarity Run

An accessible community-focused event ideal for runners looking to support a meaningful cause while staying active this spring.
