The Swim Grand Prix 2026 is the biggest open water swimming event in Portugal. This swimming race offers various distances to accommodate different levels of swimmers, making it accessible for both amateurs and experienced athletes.

The event welcomes all participants, including those without licenses, fostering a broad community atmosphere. It is part of a series that brings competitive and recreational swimmers together in a festive and motivating environment.

Swimmers will experience unique open water landscapes, adding an inspiring natural element to the competition. The event also features parallel races for different age groups or categories, promoting inclusivity and family participation.

The Joaquim Bernardo de Sousa Lobo Sea Swimming Race takes place on June 21, 2026, in Nazaré, Portugal. Founded in 1958, this is one of the most historic and emblematic open water swimming events in the country.

The race is held in the Atlantic Ocean and follows an “out-and-back” course of approximately 1.8 km, combining physical challenge with strong cultural and maritime heritage. The event promotes ocean awareness, community identity, and inclusive participation, welcoming both federated and non-federated swimmers, including neurodivergent athletes.

The 22nd Sines Bay Open Water Race takes place on June 14, 2026, at Praia Vasco da Gama, in Sines. This event is part of the XIX National Open Water Circuit 2025–2026, under the Portuguese Swimming Federation (FPN).

Held in the Atlantic Ocean, the competition features a 3000m official Circuit race for Open Water (AA) and Masters AA swimmers, alongside 1000m and 400m promotional distances. The race contributes to the national ranking and offers athletes the opportunity to compete in sea conditions along the Alentejo coast.

The ZEUS Open Water Grand Prix 2026 is a national and international open water swimming event taking place on June 10, 2026, at Praia Fluvial do Alqueidão (River Zêzere), Tomar, Portugal.

Organized by Sociedade Filarmónica Gualdim Pais (SFGP), the event offers multiple race distances designed for swimmers of different ages and performance levels.

Participants can compete in the following open water distances: 500 m, 1,500 m, 1,500 m (wetsuit category), 3,000 m, and 25 km ultramarathon.

The 25 km race connects Dornes (Ferreira do Zêzere) to Praia Fluvial do Alqueidão (Tomar), while the remaining distances are held in circuit format at Praia Fluvial do Alqueidão.

The event is open to national and international swimmers of both genders, starting from 10 years of age (depending on distance).
