The 16th Trail AM returns to Barcelos on 15 November 2026, inviting runners to experience the region’s stunning trails through an event that combines nature, challenge and adventure. Organised by Amigos da Montanha, Trail AM has become one of northern Portugal’s leading trail running events, taking participants through forests, hills and rural landscapes on demanding yet rewarding routes.<\/p>\n

The programme features three competitive races \u2014 the 50 km Ultra Trail, 32 km Long Trail and 16 km Short Trail \u2014 alongside a 10 km non-competitive hike. Designed for runners of different experience levels, each course offers a mix of steep climbs, technical descents and flowing singletracks, showcasing the natural beauty surrounding Barcelos.<\/p>\n

The 50 km, 32 km and 16 km races are competitive.
The 10 km hike is non-competitive.<\/p>\n

Minimum Age<\/strong>
16 km Short Trail: 16 years (participants under 18 must provide parental authorisation).

Recommended Equipment<\/strong>
Appropriate trail running footwear and clothing. Participants are advised to carry additional food and water.<\/p>\n

Participation Requirements<\/strong>
Participants should be physically prepared to face mountainous terrain, significant elevation changes, long distances and potentially adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n

Safety<\/strong>
Some sections are on roads open to traffic. Participants must follow traffic regulations and respect private property and agricultural land.<\/p>\n

Environmental Responsibility<\/strong>
All waste must be disposed of at the designated aid stations.<\/p>\n

Event Changes<\/strong>
