It is short enough to be a great entry point for anyone starting to race, yet demanding enough to remain a challenge even after many start lines.

For some runners, the goal is simply to complete the distance. For others, it is about breaking 60, 50 or 40 minutes. And then there are those who choose the 10K because they want the excitement of racing without having to organise several months of their lives around a half marathon or marathon.

If you still want to add another race to your 2026 calendar, there are plenty of good opportunities between September and November. We have selected 10 10K races across Portugal, from established classics to smaller local events and some very different race experiences.

1. Corrida Noturna Costa da Caparica

📅 5 September 2026
📍 Costa da Caparica, Almada

If a traditional road race is not exactly what you are looking for, this could be one of the most unusual options on the list.

Corrida Noturna Costa da Caparica takes place at night, starting at Praia do Tarquínio. The opening kilometres take runners from the road onto the sand and promenade, turning the 10K into a very different experience from a conventional city race.

The 10K starts at 9:15 pm, and the programme also includes a 5K walk and a children’s race.

See Corrida Noturna Costa da Caparica on RaceFinder

2. Corrida do Tejo

📅 13 September 2026
📍 Algés → Oeiras

There are 10K races, and then there are those that have become a yearly fixture on many runners’ calendars.

In 2026, Corrida do Tejo reaches its 45th edition and once again connects Algés and Oeiras along Avenida Marginal. The race starts near Algés railway station and finishes close to Praia da Torre.

With space for up to 10,000 participants and starting waves organised by pace, it is a great option for runners who enjoy the energy of a large race and want to test their fitness after the summer.

See Corrida do Tejo on RaceFinder

3. Corrida das Vindimas

📅 19 September 2026
📍 Cartaxo, Santarém

Not every 10K needs thousands of participants or a route through one of Portugal’s biggest cities.

Corrida das Vindimas, in Cartaxo, is a good alternative for runners who enjoy smaller, more local events. The road race takes place on a closed circuit, with two laps of approximately 5K, starting and finishing near Centro Cultural do Cartaxo.

The 2026 edition starts at 6:00 pm and also includes a 5K walk. The event has a strong connection to the local region and its wine harvest traditions, giving it a character that goes beyond the race itself.

See Corrida das Vindimas on RaceFinder

4. The main race begins at 9:30 am, alongside a 5K mini race and walk.

There is also a charitable side to the event, with support going to the three local fire brigades. There is also a 5K walk for anyone joining you who prefers a more relaxed distance.

It is the kind of race that works particularly well as an excuse to turn race day into a weekend away.

See Sines a Correr on RaceFinder

6. The event programme is broad, with a 5K race, a walk and several children’s distances alongside the main 10K.

The course is presented as fast and flat, making it an appealing choice for runners looking to test their pace or chase a new personal best before September comes to an end.

See Bimbo Global Race on RaceFinder

7. The programme also includes a 7K walk and several children’s races.

With capacity for up to 2,000 participants across the race and walk, it is an interesting alternative for runners looking for a northern Portugal event without necessarily choosing one of Porto’s largest races.

See Corrida dos Galos on RaceFinder

8. The event includes electronic timing, a commemorative medal for finishers and a 5K walk.

If you have already run plenty of conventional city 10Ks and want something different for November, this one deserves a closer look.

See Corrida dos 70 Anos Paraquedistas on RaceFinder

10.
